Businesses are reopening more these days, and many people are preparing to re-enter the workforce. This is very exciting for employees who have been without work for months and businesses suffering from the economy!
Many customers and employees will be apprehensive about this, and need to feel safe and confident while shopping and working in your business!
Below are three ways on how to safely reopen your business or go back to work:
Continue with Safety Precautions
Practicing safety precautions during all of COVID-19 is one primary reason we have survived this pandemic, allowing our businesses to open or us going back to work. We need to continue them!
Prepare your business with the following in mind, and more:
Mandatory Masks/Face Covering Signs
Businesses need to place signs outside of their store, informing customers about mandatory masks/face coverings before entering if this is something your company wants to establish for safety. If someone has a valid medical reason, they are exempt.
Hand Sanitizing Stations
Businesses also need to have sanitizing stations at their front doors before customers can come in to shop. They need to either do it for them or supervise them to ensure patrons are following this protocol.
Information Regarding Limited Number of Customers
Your business needs to plan on and implement a plan for how many customers you allow into your store to help with physical distancing. Inform customers on your website and by a sign on your business front doors.
Clean and Disinfect Surfaces Regularly
Your business is responsible for keeping the surfaces in your store clean and disinfected – especially after every customer’s use! You’ll need to supervise this.
If you’re an employee, you can feel comforted going back home knowing you followed safety protocols.
Prepare to Hire New Employees
While businesses are reopening more, owners need to prepare for the following:
Hiring New Employees
Some employees will be uncomfortable re-entering the work field and may refuse to – we need to respect them and arrange to hire new workers.
Hiring More Employees
You may also need to hire more employees to help with how busy your business might be and the extra time you’ll need for performing safety precautions for your workers, customers, and yourself.
Be Responsible About Your Health
If you, a co-worker or someone in your family is not feeling well, particularly with COVID-19 symptoms, be responsible and STAY HOME! Many people cringe when someone sneezes or coughs around them these days for fear of COVID – for a good reason!
Even if you have flu or cold symptoms, get tested for COVID and self-isolate until you receive your test results and feel better. It’s not worth the risk coming into work, spreading symptoms to your co-workers or customers, or having an employee pass it to their family.
